Short answer: Is SMM panel legal in India? We are not lawyers and cite no Indian law, so we will not call a panel legal or illegal. Meta's spam rules ban buying likes, views and follows, so an order breaks platform rules. Reel views cost ₹17 per 1,000, and checkout takes orders of ₹7 or more at the moment.
Is SMM panel legal in India, and what can this page prove?
An SMM panel (social media marketing panel) is a website where you pay to order a social media service, such as likes, Reel views or shares, for a profile or post you name. InstaBoost is one. You give a public username or post link, pay at checkout, and the order is delivered over the next 0 to 24 hours. Our SMM panel page and the guide on how an SMM panel works show the steps.
People who type "is SMM panel legal in India" are usually asking three different things at once: does an Indian law forbid it, does Instagram allow it, and will my account survive it. This page keeps the three apart, because the evidence for each one is different.
Here is the limit, stated up front. We are not lawyers. We did not read, and we do not cite, any Indian Act, rule or court order, so we cannot give you a legal verdict, and this site is not the place to get one. What we can show is what we read ourselves on 30 October 2026: Instagram's Terms of Use and Meta's Community Standards on spam. Both are linked below so you can check every word.
What are the three questions inside "is SMM panel illegal in India"?
The search sounds like one question, but it hides three. Mixing them is how forum answers end up confident and wrong: someone proves the Instagram rule and then claims it settles the law, or the other way round.
Only the middle row of the table can be answered from a source we can link. For the first row, the right person is a lawyer who knows Indian law and your own facts. For example, a student buying ₹9 of views, a brand that shows follower numbers to sponsors, and a person who resells panel services have different facts, and a lawyer needs yours.
| The question | Who answers it | What we checked | What we can say |
|---|---|---|---|
| Does an Indian law forbid using or running an SMM panel? | A lawyer; in the end, a court | Nothing. We did not read any statute | No verdict from us. Ask a lawyer with your facts in hand |
| Does Instagram allow buying likes, views or follows? | Instagram and Meta, in their own terms | Instagram Terms of Use; Meta Community Standards on spam | No. Meta's spam rules list buying engagement as not allowed |
| What can happen to your account? | Instagram and Meta | The same two pages | Instagram says it can refuse or stop service, including disabling access, if you break its Terms or policies. The pages list no fixed penalty for buying engagement |
| Does the order put your login at risk? | You and the panel you pick | The InstaBoost order form | No password, login or OTP is asked. Only a public username or link, and payment |

What do Instagram and Meta say about buying likes and views?
Buying likes or views from any panel, ours included, is against Instagram's rules. Meta's Community Standards on spam list what Meta does not allow, and one line covers this topic directly: "selling, buying, or exchanging for engagement, such as likes, shares, views, follows" (Meta Transparency Center, Spam). Likes, views and shares are the exact services an SMM panel sells.
Instagram's Terms of Use point to those standards. Section 4.2 says you can't violate, or help or encourage others to violate, the Terms or Instagram's policies, and it names the Community Standards. A separate line in the same section bars buying, selling or transferring any aspect of your account, which is a different rule from buying engagement. The Terms also say Instagram can refuse or stop providing the service to you, including terminating or disabling access, if you violate them (Instagram Terms of Use).
That is why we repeat the rule on every page where it matters: it is the one fact in this topic that comes straight from the source.
Those are the rules of a company, and enforcing them is up to the company. That is why the next section is about your account, not about courts.
Is SMM panel safe for your Instagram account?
No panel can honestly promise that. Instagram can act on any account, and buying engagement is against its terms, so the risk is never zero. The two pages we read do not list a fixed penalty for buying engagement, so we will not invent one. Our own Terms of Service say we are not responsible if Instagram bans or suspends your account. Read them before you pay, the way you would read the small print on any online purchase.
Some risks are in your hands. The biggest is a panel that asks for your password: a login given to a stranger can be misused, whatever happens to the likes. InstaBoost asks for no password, no OTP (the one-time code Instagram sends you) and no login. It needs the public username or post link, plus payment at checkout. The guide on whether SMM panels need your password goes through why.
Other choices limit the damage if something goes wrong. Order small. Order for one post at a time. Keep the account public, because a private account cannot receive anything. Delivery starts within minutes and is drip-fed (spread out over hours instead of landing all at once), finishing in 0 to 24 hours. Drip-feeding changes how an order looks. It does not make an order allowed, hidden or risk-free.
Our bans, drops and safety guides collect what we have written on account action, and Are SMM panels safe for Instagram? lists the signs that separate a careful panel from a careless one.
Is it legal to buy Instagram likes in India?
The same three questions apply to likes. Whether any Indian law covers an order of 100 likes for ₹8 is a question for a lawyer, and we do not answer it. Whether Instagram allows it has a clear answer: Meta's spam rules name likes among the engagement you cannot buy.
If you are weighing likes, Is buying Instagram likes worth it in India? covers the value side. Our buy Instagram likes in India page and the likes service page show the current rate: ₹84 per 1,000, minimum order 100 likes.
Followers sit under the same Instagram rule. We wrote a separate piece, on buying followers and Indian rules. This page does not repeat it, and neither page is legal advice.
What does a small, careful test order cost?
If you decide the platform risk is yours to take, the sensible size is a small order, placed on one post you can afford to lose reach on. Reel views cost ₹17 per 1,000, and the order form's own minimum is 100 views. At the moment, though, the payment step needs at least ₹7 per order. So the smallest Reel views order that goes through today is 383 views for ₹7, and a clean small test pack is 500 views for ₹9. Likes cost ₹84 per 1,000 with a minimum of 100, which is ₹8 and already above the ₹7 floor. The table shows what the order form charges, rounded to the nearest rupee. The full list is on the pricing page.
A ₹9 order of 500 Reel views is not meant to change your numbers. It shows you how the process works: you paste a public link, pay by UPI, Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, card or NetBanking, and see what arrives within 0 to 24 hours. The Reel views service page and the buy Instagram views in India page list the same steps.
If you arrived searching for a "booster", the Reel views booster guide compares the three things people mean by that word.
| Quantity | Reel views (₹17 per 1,000) | Likes (₹84 per 1,000) |
|---|---|---|
| 100 (form minimum) | Below ₹7, so checkout cannot take it at the moment | ₹8 |
| 383 | ₹7 (smallest views order checkout takes) | ₹32 |
| 500 | ₹9 | ₹42 |
| 1,000 | ₹17 | ₹84 |
| 2,000 | ₹34 | ₹168 |
Who is better off skipping an SMM panel?
Skip it if losing the account would cost you more than a few rupees of views could ever earn. A business page that gets its orders from Instagram, a creator with a signed sponsor deal, or an account you have built for years puts that asset at risk with any order.
Skip it if the account is private. A private account cannot receive anything from a panel, so the money would be wasted.
Skip it if you plan to show the numbers to a brand as proof of reach. A sponsor can ask for your Insights (Instagram's own statistics for your account), and bought numbers can look odd next to your comments and saves.
Running or reselling panel services is a different question from buying one order. The questions grow: contracts, tax, advertising rules, what you promise your own buyers. We did not research any of them for this page. Ask a lawyer and a chartered accountant, and bring your plan in writing. If you are still choosing a provider, how to choose an SMM panel in India lists what to check.
How do you decide, and what do you ask a lawyer?
Start with what you are protecting. If it is an account that earns money, the platform risk is the whole decision, and the price is a small part of it. Then read the two Meta pages linked above, and our Terms. They take about ten minutes together.
If a legal worry is left, take a short note to a lawyer: what you plan to buy, how often, whether you will show the numbers to brands or customers, and whether you will resell. Ask what applies to your case and ask for the answer in writing. A forum comment or a blog post, this one included, is not that.
If you accept the platform risk, start with the 500-view test order (₹9) and check what arrives. SMM panel vs Instagram growth service compares the options if you are unsure which one fits.
